«Stayed here with my wife and our 2 grandchildren on 13th August for 1 night ,it was our first ever time staying at this hotel and although the location is excellent and from the first look of the hotel it looks amazing, the size,the architectural structure is stunning, the entrance is grand and once inside the lobby is huge with a big staircase in the middle. However after checking in at reception we took the lift to our room on the third floor, and for such a big hotel the lifts are way too small (supposed to fit up to 8 people, maybe 8 children but definitely not 8 adults). We had a family executive seaview room,fairly large sleeping area,1 double and 2 single beds and although the bathroom was modern, tiled from top to bottom, it had a bath with shower/tap combo instead of a walk-in shower area or cubicle, the room itself was very old fashioned and in need of an update, cracked and water marked ceiling and when I presumed the people in the room above ours were taking a shower the ceiling started leaking,dripping into the middle of the room wetting the carpet, we reported this one of the reception staff who just said they would visit the people in the room and see what was causing the leak ”probably using the shower with the curtain outside the bath” they said , we never heard anything back so it seemed like they didn't care. There is a nice large outside balcony seating area which would be nice to sit and have a drink over looking the beach and sea in the hot weather or on a warm night but on a night none of the outside lights worked so was very dark which was a shame. Breakfast options are very limited, sausage, bacon,eggs,beans ,fried tomatoes, toast and cereal . We didn't notice until the morning we left and I'm sort of glad we didn't but we found mice or rat droppings on the carpet,along the edges and in the corner of the room! Overall it's a shame as this hotel was probably amazing 30 - 40 years ago, needs a lot of updating to the rooms and just more general maintenance and TLC to to hotel could make it Grand again albeit very disappointed and will not be staying again unless it gets a complete renovation in the near future.»

«Booking was easy; the staff were quick and friendly on check in. The room was clean, smelled fresh and the bathroom a lot nicer than last time I wouldn’t recommend paying for the upgrade for a bathtub. They are so small you can’t relax in them.  Breakfast was to die for. Fantastic range, and delicious cumberland sauages making a change to the usual hotel pork sausages»

«El hotel está situado a 5 minutos a pie de la estación de York a través de la ruta del York Royale Hotel. Caminando a muchas atracciones como centralmente situados en todas estas áreas. El desayuno se puede mejorar si los huevos de escrobado son fluffy. El hotel es limpio y el equipo de servicio responde a todas nuestras necesidades en 30 minutos a petición. Por ejemplo, el secador de pelo se desgasta, el mal funcionamiento del aire, ya que el tiempo acaba de subir a 32 grados Celsius y su equipo técnico sólo podía resolver el día siguiente.»

«We were booking for 2 nights. Our room is allocated on 2nd floor and the staff help us with our luggages. Our room is okay and it was so hot. AC is not working. We reported and the staff was trying to reset but AC still not working. We were given a fan, and it was so hot like oven. Windows are all locked. It was a terrible night and we could not sleep. Lucky the next morning, we were given another room with working AC. This hotel should not sell service for room with broken AC.»

«Great experience throughout our stay. Barry was the person on reception to check us in and was very helpful throughout our stay. The room was great, very functional in all respects. The included breakfast had great variety (see photos). Great hotel, I hope to stay here again»

«Reservé el DoubleTree by Hilton York en TripAdvisor. El hotel está situado en el centro de la ciudad, a 18 minutos a pie de la estación de tren. Llegamos sobre las 22:30 del 27 de agosto de 2025. El recepcionista nos recibió con calidez y nos registró en 10 minutos. Nos explicó los horarios del desayuno y nos ofreció consigna de equipaje gratuita después del check-out. El servicio fue muy profesional. (Disculpen si no recuerdo su nombre). El desayuno se sirvió en cuanto dimos el número de habitación. Era un desayuno inglés clásico con café, cruasanes y fruta, muy abundante (aunque el gusto es cuestión de gustos). El check-out también fue muy práctico. La recepcionista rubia, Diana, nos registró rápidamente y nos guardó el equipaje. El personal fue muy profesional. La habitación tenía una cama muy cómoda, aire acondicionado, y era espaciosa y limpia. Se lo recomendaría a mis amigos que viajen a York.»

«I am very disappointed with my room assignment. Before my arrival, I specifically requested rooms near the elevator and connecting rooms (or at least rooms close to each other) because I am traveling with my young children. Unfortunately, none of my requests were accommodated. Instead, I was assigned two separate rooms on different floors (2nd and 6th floors). To make matters worse, each floor requires a separate key card to access, making it extremely inconvenient and nearly impossible for my family to move between rooms. Additionally, one of the rooms is located at the very end of the hallway, far from the elevator, despite my request for a room nearby. These arrangements are the exact opposite of what I requested and create significant difficulties when traveling with children. I made these requests in advance because they are important for my family’s safety and convenience, yet they appear to have been completely overlooked.»

«Pleasantly surprised after reading reviews but was so much better than I thought, as soon as I got there guy on reception friendly very helpful, sorted car parking for us straight away £6.00 for 3 days reserved so can come and go as pleased excellent value for money , other staff friendly approachable nothing is too much trouble , we were located on second floor room was clean bright bonus of having a bath, only thing I would say bed bases need upgrading as wood had collapsed on one side of ours, tea tray wasn’t topped up but asked guy at reception and the gave us a bag full so not an issue, breakfast was fresh and hot and great views to eat breakfast to, waitress was lovely and friendly, the bar area was clean and bright beer was nice and fresh and reasonably priced. Overall a pleasant stay and would return again mainly for the breakfast view, the staff and the location»
