This place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

This is a very good hotel. It is right next to the shopping mall, so restaurants and coffee shops are everywhere. We really appreciated the friendly front desk staff getting us an upgraded room. It is spacious, cleaned, comfortable, and fully stocked with everything we need. We love their long and cleaned pool. It’s perfect for lap swimmers. Definitely we will recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

Ubicación y transporte: está cerca de la calle peatonal y es fácil de encontrar. Puedes tomar un taxi a las atracciones de los alrededores en 20 minutos. Ambiente y servicio: siempre me gusta alojarme en los hoteles de Huazhu. No hace falta decir que la recepción siempre responde a todas las solicitudes. Instalaciones: Sólo hay un ascensor en el hotel, que es relativamente lento, pero las escaleras también son muy cómodas.

A peaceful place to chill and relax. Very pretty, clean, modern interior and nice smelling room. Fruits, drinks and yoghurt are complimentary in every room. Within the room, it is spacious! They even offer us washing machine (equipped with detergent) in every room so we may wash our laundry. Exterior has been nicely designed too. Love the deco around the common area like the reading corner, tea table. Breakfast is quite good though it’s the same for both days we were there. Manager nicely upgraded one of our room as it was off peak season. Found out they have another branch in Yun Shi Yao. Perhaps can consider staying there and this for 2 different nights to experience different locations with hopefully similar level of standards.

Ubicación Es un lugar fantástico, a poca distancia a pie de la Universidad de Xiamen, las Torres Gemelas (Puente Yanwu), el Templo Nanputuo y el Jardín Botánico, y a un corto trayecto en taxi de la carretera de circunvalación. Mejor aún, el B&B está en la cima de una colina, lo que lo hace increíblemente tranquilo y espacioso, dándole un aire verdaderamente vacacional. Tengan en cuenta que los hoteles y B&B de la calle suelen ser pequeños y anticuados. Investigamos a fondo y finalmente elegimos este lugar, ya que el descanso es fundamental para las familias con niños. 2. Ambiente 1. Excelente. Inaugurado en 2025, el diseño tiene un toque del sur de Francia, con colores vivos, un interior limpio y ordenado, y un interior romántico y fotogénico. 04* property with nice hotel and clean. Room spacious. The staff doesn't speak well English but their service is very good. The location is quick convenient with Flower shop, pastry shop , restaurant and convenient store within 50meter walking distance.

We had a wonderful stay and truly enjoyed every moment here. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the view was absolutely beautiful, especially looking out toward the beach—it was exactly as shown and completely worth it 🌊✨ The place is very kid-friendly, which made our stay even more comfortable as a family. The service was outstanding—thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely caring. A special highlight was the afternoon tea and evening snacks thoughtfully placed on our door handle. It was such a lovely surprise and really showed how much attention the team puts into small details. We absolutely loved this thoughtful touch 💛 Although the weather wasn’t very favorable during our stay, we still enjoyed relaxing by the window, taking in the sea view, and feeling the calm atmosphere. Even on a cloudy day, the experience was peaceful and enjoyable. Breakfast was another big plus—delicious, satisfying, and generous, leaving us happily full and ready for the day 😄 Overall, this stay exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a beautiful seaside experience. We truly appreciate the care and effort from the entire team and would love to visit again!

Great stay at Conrad. **⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Stay – Stunning Views & World-Class Hospitality!** Our stay at this hotel was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. **Location & Presence:** You absolutely cannot miss this property—it is one of the tallest buildings in the surrounding area, making it a prominent landmark on the skyline and incredibly easy to find or navigate back to after a long day of exploring. **The Room & Views:** We were lucky enough to have room with a seaview, and it completely stole the show. Waking up every morning right from our window was a breathtaking experience. The room itself was immaculate, spacious, and perfectly designed to frame the gorgeous coastal backdrop. **The Service & Hospitality:** What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the customer service. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Our host was an absolute gem—incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and passionate about the local area. They provided us with fantastic, insider recommendations, historical context, and transit tips that completely elevated our travel itinerary.
