«I stayed at Melody of Sea Hotel for six nights, and overall, I had a very pleasant experience. The room facilities and amenities were nice, modern, and well-maintained.
When I first arrived, I noticed a slight smell of smoke in the room. However, after two days, the smell was completely gone, and I no longer noticed it.
My mom also felt very comfortable during our stay because the mattress was comfortable and did not cause her any back pain, which was really important for her.
The front desk staff were very helpful, friendly, and welcoming. They greeted us warmly and were always happy to assist whenever we needed anything.
Moreover, the location was the best part for me. As soon as you leave the hotel, you are right on Zhongshan Road, where there are always lots of people, many shops, restaurants, and places to explore. I really enjoyed the lively atmosphere and the convenience of the location.
Overall, I had a great stay at Melody of Sea Hotel and would be happy to stay there again.»

«Antes de mi viaje, consulté muchos hoteles en Sangu Old Street a través de Ctrip y finalmente me decidí por el Hotel Impression. Inicialmente reservé una habitación doble Deluxe en el quinto piso, pero tras leer reseñas que indicaban que no había ascensor directo, encontré el número de teléfono del hotel en internet. Al llamar al propietario, accedió de inmediato a darme una habitación ejecutiva con ascensor sin coste adicional. Al llegar al hotel anteayer, el propietario cumplió su palabra y me reservó dos habitaciones dobles ejecutivas. Durante este proceso, el propietario nos acompañó pacientemente con su personal para elegir las habitaciones hasta que estuvimos satisfechos, lo cual nos alegró mucho. Las habitaciones son amplias, limpias y ordenadas. A pesar de estar en una zona concurrida, el hotel es tranquilo; dormimos sin oír ningún ruido exterior y la insonorización era excelente, impidiendo que escucháramos cualquier sonido de los vecinos. El desayuno era abundante y ofrecía una gran variedad de platos chinos y occidentales. El hotel está a solo 10 minutos a pie de Sangu Old Street. This place makes me wish there was an option for six stars.
I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay.
I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me.
I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters.
To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget.
For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms.
Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful.
The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees.
This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine.
This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit.
It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

This is a very good hotel. It is right next to the shopping mall, so restaurants and coffee shops are everywhere. We really appreciated the friendly front desk staff getting us an upgraded room. It is spacious, cleaned, comfortable, and fully stocked with everything we need. We love their long and cleaned pool. It’s perfect for lap swimmers. Definitely we will recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

A peaceful place to chill and relax.
Very pretty, clean, modern interior and nice smelling room. Fruits, drinks and yoghurt are complimentary in every room. Within the room, it is spacious! They even offer us washing machine (equipped with detergent) in every room so we may wash our laundry. Exterior has been nicely designed too. Love the deco around the common area like the reading corner, tea table.
Breakfast is quite good though it’s the same for both days we were there. Manager nicely upgraded one of our room as it was off peak season. Found out they have another branch in Yun Shi Yao. Perhaps can consider staying there and this for 2 different nights to experience different locations with hopefully similar level of standards.

1. Ubicación
Es un lugar fantástico, a poca distancia a pie de la Universidad de Xiamen, las Torres Gemelas (Puente Yanwu), el Templo Nanputuo y el Jardín Botánico, y a un corto trayecto en taxi de la carretera de circunvalación. Mejor aún, el B&B está en la cima de una colina, lo que lo hace increíblemente tranquilo y espacioso, dándole un aire verdaderamente vacacional. Tengan en cuenta que los hoteles y B&B de la calle suelen ser pequeños y anticuados. Investigamos a fondo y finalmente elegimos este lugar, ya que el descanso es fundamental para las familias con niños.

1. Excelente. Inaugurado en 2025, el diseño tiene un toque del sur de Francia, con colores vivos, un interior limpio y ordenado, y un interior romántico y fotogénico. Los huéspedes del B&B son muy atentos y considerados. La encantadora dueña es muy amable. Siempre que tengo tiempo libre, disfruto charlando con ella, escuchando sus interesantes historias y aprendiendo de su profunda sabiduría vital. La conexión espiritual es particularmente armoniosa en un entorno así. Este tiempo juntos ha enriquecido mi experiencia y la ha hecho realmente memorable. ¡Estoy agradecida de haberla conocido y espero volver a verla!

El hotel es muy acogedor, lo que nos ha hecho más cómodos como una familia. Una especial atención fue el té de la tarde y las cenas de la noche pensando en nuestra manga de puertas. Fue una sorpresa tan hermosa y realmente mostró la atención que el equipo ponga en pequeños detalles. Absolutamente nos encanta este pensamiento de toque 💛

El hotel está en una excelente ubicación, justo dentro de la ciudad antigua, cerca de todas las atracciones, y hay un servicio de autobús gratuito desde y hacia la entrada este de la ciudad antigua. La habitación era espaciosa y limpia, y el precio era muy bueno. Los chicos y chicas de recepción fueron muy cálidos y amigables. Nos enviaron guías de viaje cuando hicimos el check in y nos dieron recuerdos cuando hicimos el check out. ¡También nos devolvieron todos los artículos faltantes de forma gratuita! Muy satisfecho, me alojaré aquí de nuevo la próxima vez!
